Giant Wood Spider

The Giant Wood Spider is a species of arachnid found in India and in other Asian countries. Interestingly, it is the adult female which grows to about 2-4 inches; almost a Giant in comparison to the male, which grows to less than 10 mm. While the male is reddish brown in color, the large yellow spots at the joints of the limbs of the female is the distinguishing characteristic of this species. Their huge webs that span almost up to two meters in diameter.

This picture was taken in my home town Wayanad-Kerala with a 70-300 mm Tamron lens.

Macro Photographs

As everybody knows, macro lens are expensive. If all you have are standard and wide-angle lenses, another method of obtaining high magnifications is to reverse-mount them. I spend a lot of time doing R&D with my camera and I feel that this is an amazing way to get close to the small world around us.

The following pictures are taken by a reverse-mounted Nikon 18-55 mm lens

Hyderabad

Hyderabad State was one the richest and the senior-most salute state among the Indian princely States during the period of  Nizam. If you take a walk in the streets of  Hyderabad, still  you can see historical monuments built in the best of architecture of that period by some of the wealthiest Kings in India, some antique cars of that era, taking the last breath and some  trying to keep up with the new age .

Mecca Masjid Hyderabad

Mecca Masjid is the oldest and the biggest of the mosques situated in Hyderabad city. About 10,000 people can offer prayers in this mosque at a time. It is said that Mohammad Quli Qutub Shah began the construction of the Masjid in 1617 but the Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb completed the construction in 1694. The Mecca Masjid of Hyderabad is located just 100 yards away from the famous and historic Charminar.
